Opening lecture - 2015

The opening lecture at New College has been a tradition since the school opened in the Autumn of 1850. Each of the Professors was invited to give a public lecture to introduce their discipline to the general audience and explore some of the big ideas being discussed.

We carry this on to this day and the opening lecture and the inaugural lecture this year will be given by Helen Bond, Professor of Christian Origins.

Thursday 17 September - 2pm Martin Hall

‘Paragon of Discipleship or Parody of Kingship? Simon of Cyrene in Mark's Gospel’.

This lecture will be video recorded and will be available as a live webcast from 2pm
