Dr David Grumett: Material Eucharist

David lectures in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh and will discuss the implications of his new book for life and worship. He has published widely on modern French Catholic theology and food in the Christian tradition. His book, just out with Oxford University Press, examines the theological significance of the bread and wine used in Christian worship and their place in daily life. David presents worship as active and transformative, and sets it within the whole created order. He also shows how the bread and wine bring communicants to share in Christ's resurrection and may build social bonds.
